By maintaining a highly active, dominant population of targeted microbes, the plant achieved aggressive in-situ digestion of organic mass, significantly reducing the volume of waste activated sludge (WAS) pumped to the dewatering press. In turn, hauling fees were reduced by >$60k and disposal fees >$40k.

Superior Clarifier Settleability

Within weeks, the biological blanket stabilized. Floc density improved, the sludge volume index (SVI) dropped into the ideal range, and final effluent Total Suspended Solids (TSS) remained historically low. Because the biological floc settled naturally and compactly, the plant was able to cut its downstream dewatering polymer consumption from six totes a year to two, further saving a considerable amount.
